If pedestrians needs to have a hand on the tactile arrow to feel the vibrotactile walk indication, the APS device must be near the curb and crosswalk. The tactile arrow should NOT point to where the crosswalk begins (i.e., where the crosswalk hits the sidewalk). MUTCD requires that the tactile arrow be aligned with direction of the crosswalk. The arrow should be pointed PARALLEL to the crosswalk.
