In research on APS, it was found that many people were unfamiliar with the new types of APS and their use and functioning so education is important to help people respond appropriately. Neighbors may be more supportive of APS if they understand how they’re used and the need for them. We noted some specific education needs during the research on APS, which will be discussed on a later slide in more detail and there still is general confusion about the meaning of pedestrian signals.
