You could, in a retrofit situation, if it works for the person requesting it. You’d need speech walk messages and pushbutton information messages, and documentation of your reasons for that decision. The greater distance from the curb might mean the locator tone and walk indication need to be somewhat louder so a person waiting at the crosswalk for East could hear it well.
